Harley Davidson complaint by Gadget
My brand new HD Heritage Softail Classic had only 4800 miles on it when the rear axle bearing fell apart while I was riding locally. Lucky I wasn't going fast or on a road trip.

The dealer I bought it from; Timm's in Anderson, SC claimed that Harley redesigned the rear end for '08 and this never happened to them. Needless to say there were no parts in stock and it took just over two weeks to fix. They also stated I was lucky it didn't lock up on me on the road and throw me off... gee ya think?

Well the bike is fixed but I am a little leery to ride it waiting to see what will fall off next.

Another complaint I have is that I too am experiencing a lot of heat being thrown up off the engine. My '95 Ultra Classic don't throw nearly as much heat.

Next complaint, I don't get the gas mileage Harley claims. I only average 35 max a gallon. I was told by the dealer that that's normal. Again, my '95 gets close to 50 on the open road and thats one big bike.

Lastly, the fuel pump makes more noise then my 2 year old grand daughter screaming for her bottle. Harleys suggestion... get louder pipes.

In conclusion I can honestly say I won't be buying another Harley. I think I will look at Triumph or Yamaharley for my next bike.
