Custom numbered paint from Harley.
I purchased a limited number paint set from Republic Harley in April of 2012. So here is the problem I have with the dealership.
It started in February 2012 when the custom paint was ordered and I was told it would take 6 weeks to arrive. Along came April 27th the paint set arrived, I installed the paint set, now here in March of 2013 I noticed that the paint in the black pearl was starting to separate. I returned to the dealership to start the warranty process. During the conversation I was told that I needed to remove the paint set and bring it in to the dealership, I asked the question why would I need to take the parts off since it was a manufacture defect.
The response was that the labor was not factored into the warranty of a $3000.00 paint job. So I ask how much to take the tins off and I was told $500.00 dollars to remove them.
Which is *** they should remove them and send them in with out any hesitation. So I will not recommend anyone to go to this dealership as their customer service sucks.
HARLEY DAVIDSON MONTREAL DISGRACEFUL
SINCE REPORTING ON FACEBOOK THE MANAGER IMMEDIATELY GOT IN TOUCH WITH ME AND WANTED TO MEET WITH ME TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEM. HAVE NOT DONE SO YET BUT MAY DO SO. I GUESS HE IS VERY WORRIED THAT THIS WOULD GET OUT AND I CAN'T BLAME HIM, HOWEVER, WHAT HAPPENED STILL STANDS AND WHETHER THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM OR NOT I DO NOT KNOW.

As a followup to my initial complaint...well, it's been thirty days now, and I have exhausted my BBB avenue - told to contact my state's attorney general if I wanted to continue a legal battle with ABC, which I don't. Bottom line, after having spent nearly $11000 with them ($15000 total including parts on my second harley) - after having what I thought was a continuation of a poor engine overhaul, they are taking the stance of questioning why I would continue to go to them if I had this much problem with them in the first place, that it was a 12 year old bike - so i should expect to have all sorts of problems, which they say is why they really don't like, as well as will not work on my bike ever again, and, that they believe the reason I kept coming back to them was because I had already worn out my welcome at all the other dealerships in Southern Michigan...
The real reason I kept going there was because of their knowledge in the continuing saga on the motor overhaul. The fact that I was having - after the fact a starting problem, with the rear cylinder needing replacement after less than 1000, was a secondary reason since it was already there and I figured they were capable enough to diagnose and make the repairs - which they have shown and hopefully to the world through this complaint that they aren't.
Secondly, they were the closest, with more than 23 miles round trip, it was a convenience issue.
Thirdly, why shouldn't they work on older Harleys, after all, the bikes usually out live several owners!
When I got the bike back, the starter problem was several things they should have caught right off the bat - had they been a real capable service department.
One, the battery was nearly two years old, and although it may have 'tested good', the fact was I had to charge the battery for nearly two days because it was that weak.
Second, they never installed the 2 gauge wires I had to get for them ( had them at home for another project bike and didn't want to wait another week for them to order, as well as, didn't like the price they quoted.
Third, found that they didn't hook the wires back correctly.
Fourth, they said that the starter wouldn't stop cranking when they released the starter button, and that they hadn't put the spark plugs in as part of that start test. Well, it retracted fine withe the primary chain, sprocket, and clutch removed. It worked fine (popped out, cranked, and retracted) with just the clutch basket installed on the trannie input shaft. And, with everything re-installed, and the spark plugs too, it worked fine and the bike started right up...and they are allowed to call themselves a harley dealership????
Closed chapter as far as I am concerned with them, and hopefully, you will to...
