Don't even go there!!!

Unbelievably poor service, and especially, by a service manager that shouldn't be even allowed in the door. They've had my bike for nearly four (4) months, and can t fix a simple starter/starting problem. They blame every component that is NOT an OEM part, and then expect me as the owner to get them the replacement parts, and then, when they still can t fix it, they say they are going to button it up and give it back to me - unfixed!!!!!!! What a POS shop! Stay away...very far away!!!! I am making a formal complaint to Harley Davidson, and I hope the Service Manager gets fired - not demoted!!!!!

As a followup to my initial complaint...well, it's been thirty days now, and I have exhausted my BBB avenue - told to contact my state's attorney general if I wanted to continue a legal battle with ABC, which I don't. Bottom line, after having spent nearly $11000 with them ($15000 total including parts on my second harley) - after having what I thought was a continuation of a poor engine overhaul, they are taking the stance of questioning why I would continue to go to them if I had this much problem with them in the first place, that it was a 12 year old bike - so i should expect to have all sorts of problems, which they say is why they really don't like, as well as will not work on my bike ever again, and, that they believe the reason I kept coming back to them was because I had already worn out my welcome at all the other dealerships in Southern Michigan...

The real reason I kept going there was because of their knowledge in the continuing saga on the motor overhaul. The fact that I was having - after the fact a starting problem, with the rear cylinder needing replacement after less than 1000, was a secondary reason since it was already there and I figured they were capable enough to diagnose and make the repairs - which they have shown and hopefully to the world through this complaint that they aren't.

Secondly, they were the closest, with more than 23 miles round trip, it was a convenience issue.

Thirdly, why shouldn't they work on older Harleys, after all, the bikes usually out live several owners!

When I got the bike back, the starter problem was several things they should have caught right off the bat - had they been a real capable service department.

One, the battery was nearly two years old, and although it may have 'tested good', the fact was I had to charge the battery for nearly two days because it was that weak.

Second, they never installed the 2 gauge wires I had to get for them ( had them at home for another project bike and didn't want to wait another week for them to order, as well as, didn't like the price they quoted.

Third, found that they didn't hook the wires back correctly.

Fourth, they said that the starter wouldn't stop cranking when they released the starter button, and that they hadn't put the spark plugs in as part of that start test. Well, it retracted fine withe the primary chain, sprocket, and clutch removed. It worked fine (popped out, cranked, and retracted) with just the clutch basket installed on the trannie input shaft. And, with everything re-installed, and the spark plugs too, it worked fine and the bike started right up...and they are allowed to call themselves a harley dealership????

Closed chapter as far as I am concerned with them, and hopefully, you will to...

A letter that came too late

On March 15 2010, 3 years ago today my Son was killed riding his Harley Streetglide. He loved his bike. A year or so later maybe less; I his Mother received a letter from the company with a warning, that a defect could cause a braking failure. When I received the letter the bike which was totaled was long gone and so was my beautiful Son. I am sitting here today on the third anniversary of losing him wishing that letter had come earlier. Would he still be alive?? He rode all his life he did motocross as a teen, and it was a beautiful sight to see him and his bike as one. He was an amazing rider. sincerly Marguerite Clarke Mother of Jeffrey Thomas Albert 1961-****

It is too late now. Try to get along better with people.

You will have less problems. Sounds like you got off easy. Some people are deserving of a beatdown. Reminds me of a time some angry biker hit my friend with his whip.

Benny left that mans teeth scattered on the road. With his bike which he could not pick up. Total poser.

We laughed and went and had a beer. Ah good times with friends.

Apple Harley Davidson is the biggest RIP-OFF on the planet.

So I took my 09 Ultra in that had a grinding noise when the clutch was not pulled in. Pull the clutch in, the noise goes away.

I put on a new 110 CVO motor with diamond cut heads and powder coated blue to match my bike.

Good old ANDY the service manager told me the engine was shot and needed a re-man motor for $7600 plus labor. I told him the motor is not bad, its the clutch or primary, he said no, just trade the bike in.

I picked it up as is, unrepaired.

I took it to Erie Harley Davidson, it was a Bearing.... $419.00 out the door.

By the way, the put used oil and anti-freeze in my engine.

They couldn't screw me for a new motor so they tried to ruin it by putting that *** in my good motor. No BS, I have pictures from Erie Harley Davidson took to prove it.

I would have called the police and ambulance right after it happened. In fact, I would have stayed on the floor until they arrived.

He sounds like a poser who got his ego bruised. More than his shoulder injury.

He needs to man up. You would fall on the ground if someone touched you and stay there?

You are also a poser who doesn't deserve the biker label. Ch

I WOULD CALL THE POLICE, FILES ASSAULT CHARGES AND GET AN ATTORNEY TO FILE A SUIT AGAINST THAT DEALERSHIP

Joe Catton Owner Short T Cycles Co.

Corporate Harley Davidson has cut us off from purchasing from Eastgate,Tri County and lexington dealerships. This would not be a problem if their cincinnati and northern ky shops stocked parts or ordered in a reasonable amount of time.We at Short T Cycles care about our customers and strive to complete jobs asap. What should it matter where WE PURCHASE OUR PARTS why are they hurting other dealerships that stock and order parts almost daily. Our customers don't go back to dealerships for this same reason get some owners that care about the bikers! We all know its about earning a living and not just selling T shirts all thats right Harley stocks more shirts than they do parts to service what they sell we have a good relationship with the employees at all the dealerships why can't corporate harley lift the restictions and allow us to purchase from whoever cares the most about their customer. If a dealership decides to stock more shirts than parts so be it but its not going create repete business you can only own so many shirts before the closet is full!

Good Year owns Dunlop tire

I went into a Good Year store to buy tires. I saw a sign that said no concealed weapons. I asked the person behind the desk if they were anti gun. He said yes I left. I E-Mailed Good Year and did get a response. They have been anti gun since 2004 and seam to be very proud of it. Being Good Year owns Dunlap every new Harley that is purchased or replacement tire proceeds go to anti gun activists pre what I was told by a sales person. Do what you want but I will not purchace any thang that comes close to any one that is anti 2nd amendment!!!

'Fantasy Island' the mystic tale of Harley Davidson

Why does one get the impression that most of these complaints against Harley Davidson motorcycles are coming from the wannabe with all that disposable income. You bought an image people ! As well as that old saying that says if you can afford to buy it then you should be able to afford to fix. Harley Davidson sells an image not motorcycles. They no longer cater to the blue collar person. And haven't since Ronny-Ray-gun bailed them out in the 1980's. Next time it would be cheaper for most of you and less frustrating to just buy one of their tee-shirts and just pretend your an outlaw.

Actually what they sell is underpowered archaic hit and miss motorcycles. I personally bought one 2014 and it was a dog.

Yes it looked cool but the performance sucked. Buy a real motorcycle to begin with and you can have both looks and performance. It's even American made. Yeah I know like Harley is so American made laden with Chinese brakes and other foreign made components.

Chain driven primary Jesus the last car to use a chain drive primary was on 1939 made by the Nash motor company. Harley's suck!

Custom numbered paint from Harley.

I purchased a limited number paint set from Republic Harley in April of 2012. So here is the problem I have with the dealership.

It started in February 2012 when the custom paint was ordered and I was told it would take 6 weeks to arrive. Along came April 27th the paint set arrived, I installed the paint set, now here in March of 2013 I noticed that the paint in the black pearl was starting to separate. I returned to the dealership to start the warranty process. During the conversation I was told that I needed to remove the paint set and bring it in to the dealership, I asked the question why would I need to take the parts off since it was a manufacture defect.

The response was that the labor was not factored into the warranty of a $3000.00 paint job. So I ask how much to take the tins off and I was told $500.00 dollars to remove them.

Which is *** they should remove them and send them in with out any hesitation. So I will not recommend anyone to go to this dealership as their customer service sucks.

HARLEY DAVIDSON MONTREAL DISGRACEFUL

Updated by user Jan 08, 2013

SINCE REPORTING ON FACEBOOK THE MANAGER IMMEDIATELY GOT IN TOUCH WITH ME AND WANTED TO MEET WITH ME TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEM. HAVE NOT DONE SO YET BUT MAY DO SO. I GUESS HE IS VERY WORRIED THAT THIS WOULD GET OUT AND I CAN'T BLAME HIM, HOWEVER, WHAT HAPPENED STILL STANDS AND WHETHER THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM OR NOT I DO NOT KNOW.

Original review Dec 08, 2012
Had my tire changed at HD MONTREAL: No rim tape, left rust inside rim, pinched the tube. had a flat on the 640 - almost go killed. Limped in to HD MONTREAL after temporary self repair. Warped disc as a result. Refused to acknowledge fault!! WILL NEVER RECOMMEND this disgraceful operation to my worst enemy. Go somewhere else. Very nice when I bought the bike new but the worst service. They definitely do not care. Also did you ever try to return something? Good luck! Try any other dealer, especially Laval - great people, knowledgeable service, great parts counter everyone willing to help.

Harley Davidson 2012 softtail

Ok bought brand spanking new 2012 softtail beginning this year. About 2 weeks ago the bike started shaking and did not feel right. So there was already a recall on this bike for a regulator I think. Called my dealership to schedule the work and told guy about the shaking....He told me NOT to ride bike except to bring bike in.....turns out on ALL 2012's the back tire could HAVE BEEN PUT ON BACKWARDS AT FACTORY!!!! MIND YOU NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AS OF YET!!!! As upsetting as this is, dealerships are having 3-6 weeks wait on getting a new tire!!!!! So they called today and said they could put rims back on and I could "ride" bike as long as not too far!!! WTF???? They had told me last week not to ride, but now I can if not too far????? Also dealership will not pay for a rental for this bike....I am beside myself...this is 5th Harley I have owned and this???? JUST BE ON NOTICE IF YOU OWN A 2012 Harley to check your back tire!!

Hello, the nightmare begins.....I was vacationing in Tenn when my 2012 Heritage Softail started shaking in the rear wheel. I immediately took the bike to Knoxville HD and was told there is an ongoing problem with the spokes and that I had a nail in my tire.

They removed the nail and said it didn't penetrate the tube (who cares, I have ESP). They obviously should have changed the tire. So, then they inform me that they cannot replace my wheel for several weeks and that they would tighten the spokes for my return to Florida to my local dealership. Now the bike is at the Lakeland shop and I'm being told that Knoxville, TN stripped the nipples on the spokes and that the wheel is no longer true.

I was also told they would not touch the problem with the tire or wheel because it's not their issue. It all originated in Tennessee. Waiting on a call from HD Customer Service to see what can be done to resolve these issues.

So, I'm paying for a 6 mo old Softail and can not even be told when or if it's going to be repaired. Problem, yep....let's see what happens from here.

Guest

My point is everything on my bike is original hd... Why would I put something on my bike that wasn't?

No not on my bike!

Did get my bike back Friday, but missed three weeks if riding time tho.. Just thought 2012 HD owners should know it was possibility back tire could be backwards

Guest

Champion made plugs for the factory and etehcd a HD name. Walk into your average car parts shop and the guys will tell you they don't have what you need.

I hope this answered your question. Final thought, do you want to test your hypothesis out on your bike?

Bad shoes

I love Harley Davidson boots!! My first pair( i cant remember what they were called but were similar to the fionas) i loved them but unfortunately they were stolen...so i decided to buy another pair..this time i bought the womens starters!!!! After about 3 months..the sole came off:-( I thought it was unusual for that to happen on leather boots..however i decided to buy another pair of starters...sad to say..the same thing happened and the sole came off. Very discouraging...and as many compliments as i got when i wore them on stage...i am a little reluctant to buy any more Harley Davidson's. Regards Bobbi

They can warranty the boots. You should of taken them back to the dealership you bought them at.

Harley makes two kinds of boots on is a riding boot and the other is a after riding boot.

The difference between the two boots: Riding boot the sole is stitched on. After riding boots the sole is glued on.

all wheels are made from parts produced in china and assembled in a plant in york called sycreon. They pay $9.50 an hour to these employees.

Many of the workers have ankle bracelets on.

All wheels were outsourced to this co. three years ago.

Sorry to hear you fell victim to Knoxville H-D's legendary customer ripoff. The dealership has serious drug use problems with their employees and it shows.

So far, my local dealership Lakeland Harley-Davidson has been no help in this matter. They have had my bike since Fri.

I finally called corporate to see what the status was and of course my contact had gone home for the day. Oh and they(corp) is STILL waiting on Lakeland Harley-Davidson to provide them with information.

Again, no help so far. How long can they keep my ride hostage?

Lisa M And

:cry

I really just hope that HD stands behind the product and I don't have to drive it anywhere else to have it repaired.

Guest

That really stinks!! I hope your dealership stands by you...we have had nothing but great experiences with Harley all over the world!

But, I agree, it's terrible to pay for something that you can't ride! If all else fails, try the Hot Metal Harley in Pittsburgh, they are the best!!

Harley Dealer Suing the Assistant District Attorney??

Chris Brekken, owner of Rice Lake Harley-Davidson is suing the Milwaukee Assistant District Attorney for doing his job. In my opinion Brekken is a spoiled little brat child that cries whenever anyone steps on his toe. I believe he is costing Wisconsin Taxpayers a lot of money and should be be locked up as a criminal, as well as the management at Harley-Davidson Motor Company that allows their dealers to behave in such childish ways. Rumor on the street is that this dealer is a real SOB, lot's of pissed off customers and complaints filed against them. Seems Harley-Davidson Motor Company and this Dealer should be married forever?! http://www.credit.net/report_news.asp?si=584**** />

Harley did not fix issue

i purchased my 2010 ultra classic limited used in sept 2010, 5800 miles. 14 months remaining on factory warranty. once the factory warranty ran out i purchased the extended warranty for 5 more years, like 2400.00 i rode this bike everywhere. had it serviced at 5k everytime. just had the 25k service done on 7 jun 2012. rode from nashville to cincinnati for the weekend. on saturday, 9 jun 2012, the bike started to spit and sputter and would not pull a hill so we rode about 45 miles like this until we got to powder keg harley davidson. they took it in checked the codes and came up with the problem being the check valve system, they had one and replaced it, the part cost less than 50.00 but i paid 50.00 because of it being the deductible for the extended warranty. also was told by service writer that this is about the 5th bike with this issue in the past few days. after about three hours the bike was done and we were on our way. it appeared that it had been fixed. the next morning at 5:30am, we started back to nashville and didnt get 10 miles and it started spitting ans sputtering again, same exact issue. we rode as far as we could, with no harley dealers in sight. we broke down at 8:00 am, 35 miles outside of louisville, ky. the bike is really hot now because of it running so lean and the heat shields and the rush slip mufflers were no longer a shiney chrome color, they were blue and black. we had to wait until noon to find the closest dealer open, bluegrass harley davidson. we attempted to contact the harley davidson extended warranty service that we purchased, closed on sunday, imagine that. we were towed into bluegrass and they attempted to fix it right away. after 4 hours, on sunday, they could not get it fixed, but did say it appeared to be the check valve system that was causing the problem, its about 15 hours old at this point. after 4 days and numerous calls to powder keg harley, bluegrass harley, and harley davidson customer care in wisconson, this is what i got. a repaired check valve system, because bluegrass could not locate a new one, so they fixed the one that was just installed the day prior. no one will take responsibilty for this part failing and causing the additional damage to my mufflers and heat shields, i have been told that is not a covered item on the extended warranty, but no one seems to hear that it wasn't broke until the check valve system part was either installed incorrectly or it was defective. so now i have a bike that needs hundreds of dollars worth of exhaust work done and a new check valve system that has been repaired and basically have been told by the customer care folks at harley davidson, to have a nice day. i have twice the miles on my 750 honda shadow and have never had an issue iwth it. this will be my last harley, you can count on that.

My wife and i felt more than happy that Raymond could carry out his reports with the pricuoes recommendations he acquired through your web pages. It is now and again perplexing to just choose to be giving freely guidelines which often the others could have been trying to sell.

Therefore we take into account we now have the writer to thank for this.

The entire illustrations you've made, the easy web site navigation, the friendships your site give support to instill it is mostly powerful, and it is letting our son and the family reckon that this idea is interesting, which is certainly particularly serious. Thanks for the whole thing!
