Just picked up my 04 Road King with only 18,500 miles, it developed a sputter and I learned it suffered a problem described as "flywheel wobble" by the certified Harley mechanic, cost me $3,800 to have rebuilt. I have learned "flywheel wobble" means premature crankshaft wear which in turn causes compression loss from the wobble as the piston travels up the cylinder, and is very common with the twin cam engines.

When I questioned the certified mechanic about the problem on such a low mileage engine he responded, "I've seen it happen in engines with only 5,000 miles on them", yet no help is offered from Harley Davidson.

Shame on Harley Davidson, I will die believing they owe me some money and vow that they will never see another dollar of mine. If your thinking of owning a Harley do your home work, and consider buying an older one with the Evolution engine.

The writer didn't say if he bought it new. It's an 16 year old Harley. If you don't know the background.Any used bike is like rolling the dice

Fine, don't buy another Harley, but enough with the melodrama, Master Thespian. "I will die..." "I vow..." How about "By Grafthar's hammer, I shall avenge myself!"

Thanks. I will just buy a better quality bike in the first place.

Performance, reliability and quality for dollar ratio. That's why I ride. Harley doesn't have any of that. Why do you ride?

Image and sound? Good luck.

Cam tensioners went in my 05 ultra.

Cost me 5k for a rebuild.

I called and they never offered to help with a problem they knew about.

They did not stand by their product and

I will never purchase it again.

Ya Mon if you have no warranty they are not going to give you a $5000 engine.

Hey, Yes... I agree with you...

so many avoidable problems with twin cams... Harley engineers knew them... from bad fly wheel assembly, To bad compensator design, to bad cam chain tensioner shoe design... all of these things have caused thousands of dedicated Harley owners, many thousands of dollars in repair...

directly associated with...(Known).. bad design...right from the factory... When you had trouble... you should have bought an S and S replacement Twin Cam for your Road King...

I know... about $5,000... but a much better engine... with a warrantee, and bolts right in your frame...Sorry you went through all of this...

I've got...40 years of riding experience... On my latest bike...No troubles... "96" carburetor Road King...Many "evo's" go way over 100,000 miles...less power than a twin cam...

but much more reliable design... Good luck to you
